When Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Roger McGuinn (pictured) was setting the rock world on fire with David Crosby in 1965 interpreting Dylan in The Byrds, Marty Stuart was seven years old. When Stuart was 14, he already was playing mandolin with the legendary Lester Flatt. By that time, McGuinn was pioneering country rock with the late Gram Parsons just before The Byrds broke up. Stuart has gone on to be the living personification of everything that is right with country music: a historian, multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter that puts all these awful pop country radio idiots to shame. McGuinn has also stayed remarkably true to his muse (this after also being quite the psychedelic guru for a bit). The two together should prove to be a landmark night in Bethlehem, PA at the Musikfest Café on Friday, Nov. 8.
