Midnight Faces is the new venture of Matthew Doty, founding member of post-rock band Saxon Shore. The D.C.-based duo also features vocalist Philip Stancil, and their debut album, Fornication, was released on June 18. It keeps up with the atmospheric quality of Doty’s previous project, but throws in some pop flair, giving it a sound reminiscent of ‘80s rock. The first two singles from the album, “Feel This Way” and “Holding On,” have an air of distress built over foot-tapping dance rhythms. Midnight Faces will be at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn for $8 on July 8, with the doors opening at 7:30 p.m.
