Dave Hartley released his sophomore album, Oak Island, via Secretly Canadian back in January 2012 with his new solo project, Nightlands. Now, the Philadelphia native and bassist of The War On Drugs just announced plans for his first headlining tour. Embracing an experimental pop sound, Oak Island prevails as a concept record, tinkering with the idea of technology falling in love with humanity. Through the use of synthesizers and mechanized vocals, Hartley utilizes his multi-instrumental background to create a robotic yet dance-driven sound. Nightlands will be performing May 29 at Mercury Lounge in New York and May 31 at Johnny Brenda’s in Philly.
