It’s easy to envision Angel Olsen in a darkened room, singing melodies to keep herself company in a strange candlelit world where death is not regarded with grave fear but with curiosity. Driven by her voice and guitar, her music is markedly earthy while soaring to astral heights. She mutters with downcast eyes just before her voice suddenly leaps up into a lusty crescendo. Olsen has performed extensively with Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and her latest release, Half Way Home, is her second solo outing. She’ll be at Maxwell’s on Nov. 10, the Glasslands Gallery on Nov. 12, and Philly’s Studio 34 on Nov. 13.
