Arlo Guthrie @ The River To River Fest

Arlo Guthrie grew up in Brooklyn surrounded by musicians like Pete Seeger and Leadbelly, who later had a huge influence on his music. Following in his father Woodie Guthrie’s footsteps, Arlo has spent most of his life singing, songwriting, and being a political activist in the folk community. Known for his witty lyrics in the 18-minute and 34-second “Alice’s Restaurant” and smooth finger picking, Guthrie’s music seesaws its way from serious political issues to hilarious anecdotes. He will be playing at the River To River Festival in the Castle Clinton National Monument at Battery Park at 7 p.m. on July 30. Free, all ages. arlo.net.
