DEAD CITY CROWN—Clifton, NJ
I love it when I can say, “This band scares me!” Well, this band scares me! Sonically, they are incredibly crunchy, riffy, and powerful. It’s when singer or growler Carl Conquest comes in, when the fear starts to set it. I’m obviously talking about the band Dead City Crown. The minute that I started listening to “Primordial”, “Borderline Insanity” and “We Could Be Gods,” I started to feel dirty. Death metal like this is a guilty pleasure, and Dead City Crown delivers like a punch in the teeth.
According to their bio, Dead City Crown is a melodic death metal band who was formed in April 2014 by guitarist Fabio Sisco, singer Carl Conquest and bassist Erick Hugo. They set out into the music scene with one mission in mind: to create heavy and melodic music influenced by various Scandinavian metal bands. Yup, that’s what every Viking metal band should strive for! Shortly after the band’s formation, Dead City Crown released their debut four-song EP Centuries, which was well received among metal fans and quickly earned the band radio airplay. Despite being only a three piece without a drummer, Dead City Crown was invited to play the first annual NJ Metalfest, pulling off a flawless show while using a drum track live. After this performance, the DCC guys knew it was time to complete the lineup and find a second guitarist and drummer. In October 2015, drummer Jorge Hernandez was recruited. The chemistry was undeniable from the first rehearsals together which inspired Fabio to begin composing new music. In June 2016, Erick decided to step down from his bass duties and was permanently replaced by Anthony Ponce. Since then, Dead City Crown has regularly played shows throughout NJ and NYC building their fan base and quickly gained some underground popularity. Recently they have gained artist sponsorships from Spector basses, DR strings, spectraflex cables, and many more. Soon the final lineup was completed when guitarist Brad Harmon joined the band.
This past May, Dead City Crown released their latest EP, Apex of Fury, by way of iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon Music, and they’re confirmed for an East Coast tour in August to promote the EP. Dead City Crown’s diligence to their hard work ethic drives them to achieve their goals and build their brand on a worldwide basis. That’s what they say at least. Catch them live this weekend at Dingbatz in Clifton with A Pale Horse Named Death. See below for details. For more info on Dead City Crown, visit
