My boys, Seas Of Wake, finally officially released their new CD, Depth Of The Marrow, last Friday, but they will be celebrating the CDs release this Friday night (5/20) with a CD release party at Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, Depth Of The Marrow is insanely brutal and features the tracks “The Sorrow,” “Rebirth,” “The After Life” and the first single and music video, “Loners.” Also performing this Friday night are The Blessing Of This Curse, That Of A Lion, Comb The Desert, and EchoLab. My brothers from Ronin will be filming some footage for an upcoming music video this Sunday (5/22) at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ when they open for Ill Nino and Boba Flex. The video will be for a song off Ronin’s new EP, Rise Of An Empire, which features the songs “Virus” and “Home.” What a gig to film a video at too, huh? Oh and by the way, my buds from Ill Nino will be performing their CD Revolution, Revolucion in its entirety. This will be an amazing show to be at! Also performing this show will be Shattered Sun, Voodoo Terror Tribe, Me With Creeps, ANAKA, Aurin, Maggotmouth and Throat. For more on Ronin and for tickets, visit facebook.com/WeAreRoninOfficial.
Since we’re on the topic of Starland Ballroom, there are some great shows in the coming week over there. On May 20, original voice of Skid Row, Sebastian Bach, brings his circus into town with Ripped, Atomic Beauty, Scottish Widows and Santa Cruz. Then, on May 24, Sixx:A.M. (read my interview with Sixx:A.M. in this issue) hits Sayreville with a couple of NJN alumni in tow—the band Cilver, who’s actually been direct support on the current Sixx:A.M. tour and features Christina Vitucci on drums from She Said Fire, and recently added, my boys from Dead Fish Handshake will be opening the show. For more info on these awesome shows at Starland Ballroom, visit StarlandBallroom.com.
My brothers from Sekond Skyn are currently mixing their new CD slated for a late summer release with producer Mike Thompson, who many will remember for his work with Superjoint Ritual. The boys have been hard at work on this new CD, so I can’t wait to hear it! The boys have been playing shows while they’ve been recording unlike some bands, who take a break from performing while they record. This Sunday (5/22), they will be playing a “free” show at Captain Hook’s Bar Parking Lot in Seaside Heights, NJ with Christian rockers P.O.D. as part of the annual Jersey Shore Music Festival. For more on Sekond Skyn and this “free” show, visit facebook.com/SekondSkynMusic.
Speaking of my bros, Lower The Veil is officially searching for a new guitar player after the departure of guitarist and my dude, Chris Siano, who had to move to the West Coast. The band recently posted on their Facebook page: “The time has come!!! If you’d like to audition for LTV, private message one of us or respond to this post. We’d be happy to have you come by and jam with us. Our audition requirements are simple…. Learn the three LTV songs that we provide and bring at least two riffs that you’ve been working on lately. It doesn’t have to be fancy. It only has to be from you!” So, if you have what it takes to play with Lower The Veil, contact the band via their Facebook page, facebook.com/LowerTheVeil.
And finally, some more self-promotion, my band Rahway was recently one of a few Jersey bands chosen to perform at this year’s inaugural Rock ‘N Derby Festival in Schaghticoke, NY up near Albany. Rahway won the opportunity at a battle of the bands at Game Changer World in Howell, NJ last month. The festival features some of today’s biggest bands like Five Finger Death Punch, Shinedown, Halestorm, Sixx:A.M., Anthrax, Sevendust, Coheed And Cambria and many more! That’s all for now! If your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140, Little Falls, NJ 07424, or you can email me at tim@theaquarian.com, where you can also let me know where you’re performing next!
Just remember. We’re all in the same boat, so every little bit of exposure counts!
