Pedro The Lion was a classic indie rock band that split up 10 years ago, but multi-instrumentalist TW Walsh has kept himself plenty busy since then. He has released music as The Soft Drugs and has done production work for Sufjan Stevens, The Cold War Kids, and Starflyer 59. His latest solo album, Fruitless Research, is being released under his own name and just came out last month. The album has more of an electronic pop sound to it than previous works by Walsh, but it’s a welcome change. Songs like “Public Radio” and “Young Rebels” are built around hard-hitting, stomp clap beats. Walsh rarely plays in New York City, so you won’t want to miss his performance at Cake Shop on March 19.
