Recently there seems to be a surge in all-girl punk rock bands. As it turns out, many of these bands have existed for a long while but are only now getting the coverage they deserve. Canada’s Hunter Valentine can count themselves amongst these bands. Since 2004, they have been releasing immensely catchy pop-punk tunes and performing them, and they have opened for acts as diverse as Sum 41 and Cyndi Lauper. They also were recently featured in VH1’s Make Or Break: The Linda Perry Project. Despite these accomplishments, Hunter Valentine unfortunately announced that they are soon going on hiatus—but not before releasing one final EP, The Pledge, and touring behind it. They will be playing at The Saint in Asbury Park on Feb. 12, the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on Feb. 13, and MilkBoy in Philadelphia on Feb. 14.
