William Close: Giant Proportions

For the past few years, William Close and his collective have been touring behind the world’s largest stringed instrument ever created, the Earth Harp. Designed by Close himself, the Earth Harp’s strings jet out from the body of the instrument, which rests onstage, out over the audience—thus implementing the architecture of the performance space as part of the instrument. Close has performed with the Earth Harp on America’s Got Talent, at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Burning Man, and with Cirque Du Soleil. Close is bringing the Earth Harp to the Pollak Theatre at Mommouth University on Jan 23.
