Despite the fact that their most recent music video for their song “Tell Me What You Want From Me” features, of all things, exploding clowns, Philadelphia’s Good Old War have a pleasant relaxed sound. They sound a bit like a tighter, less long-winded, and more pop radio-friendly version of Kurt Vile, which is not at all a bad thing. And, for a minute, album cut “Fly Away” could almost be a long lost Fleetwood Mac cut. As winter gets closer, this type of warm acoustic pop becomes essential to enduring the bitter cold. All good reasons to catch them at the Bowery Ballroom on Dec. 16, where they’ll be touring with The Voice Season 8 winner, Sawyer Fredericks. You can also see them at Union Transfer in Philadelphia on Dec. 18.
