TesseracT & The Contortionist, a pair of talented progressive metal bands from the UK and Indiana, respectively, will be playing Irving Plaza on Dec. 7. TesseracT is touring behind Polaris, the band’s third studio album as well as their first with vocalist Dan Tompkins since their debut, One (2011). The new songs incorporate their longstanding djent influence alongside Tomkins’ clean vocals and flourishes of experimental ambience with ultimately satisfying results. The Contortionist released their third album, Language, last September and are still going strong. Standout tracks like “Primordial Sound” and “Language I: Intuition” possess a lushness to them, which plays off the band’s heavier instincts quite nicely. Tickets are available for purchase through Live Nation.
