Music is an outlet in which we can discover in many ways. Whether it’s in the form of the radio, podcasts, online streaming devices, YouTube, etc., there are so many ways to hear what’s out there. There are also many forms of submitting tunes to be heard, through email, Dropbox, CD, ReverbNation, and much more. For me, I tap into all of these outlets, because it allows me to broaden my horizons on where to discover what is hot in the local market and nationally. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have heard a band playing in a store that caught my attention, or showed up on my shuffle at the gym. All it takes is a catchy beat and an infectious tune to grab my attention, and have me remembering to go back and check out that artist. These days, I get a lot of email submissions of bands wanting their music heard. Those hit me directly, leaving me wanting more. That being said, this is what is happening present day, and this week, to be exact.
This week, I am featuring a band from not too far from here, or as they like to call it, “Hell’s Kitchen, New York.” They recently sent in their stuff, and I have been hooked ever since. They go by the name of Decembers Fall. Whether you have heard of them or you just jumping on board, I am here to let you know they should be on your radar, immediately. Let’s proceed.
Decembers Fall is a rock/alternative/pop piece with a drive to make it big, while remaining true to their talent and originality. As you can see, each member is a heavy hitter here. Now, I am not going to sit here and say these guys are reinventing music as we speak, they do, however, provide something that is fresh and innovative, while being dark and bright at the same time (if that makes any sense at all). The vocals here are top-notch, and you really feel them in your soul. You will see what I mean on specific tracks, including “Nothing Left Of You.” Some of their songs may start off melancholy, but don’t let that fool you; insert a burst of energy throughout that will melt your face off, and you’ve got yourself a well-rounded group. Their style and sound has me believing that they are ready to take the music world by storm.
Some standout tracks here include “Iridescence” and “Falling Away.” I highly recommend you check both of these out, to get a diverse knowledge as to what they are all about. Another one of my favorite songs is called “October Gone.” It’s the lyrics that stand out here, on top of the top-notch musicianship, but the song has a very deep message that I am sure many of you can relate to. This song is unique, and showcases tangible, clean music. I could see a few of their tracks going mainstream, but in a good way; their sound is natural, so it would really stand out.
I highly recommend you get on board with Decembers Fall, before you regret it. They are surely making a dent in the scene, releasing new music and playing shows near you. Hopefully they make their way to my neck of the woods on the Jersey Shore so I can experiment them live for myself. There is nothing I love more than some female-fronted rock, hence why I have spotlighted bands like Vextion in the past.
Decembers Fall’s debut album, Awakening, established them to where they need to be, and it’s all smooth sailing from here! If their recorded energy transfers into their live set, I have a feeling their stage presence will blow our minds. Take a listen and enjoy “the commotion that will soon be sweeping across the States.”
If you want to learn more about Decembers Fall, access their music, see what they look like, and just send them some love, you can visit their official website at decembersfall.com, or check them out on Facebook at Facebook.com/Decembers-Fall. Better yet, tell them Maria sent you!
I will be back next week with another act of your liking, whether it’s a live show review, album premiere, or anything far in between; the content will be fresh off the market! See you next time.
