Music from the Windy City is making its way to the Big Apple this summer, with an eye-opening variety of musicians and genres. Accompanied by fellow musicians Ryley Walker and Cooper Crain of Bitchin’ Bajas, baritone-singer and instrumentalist, Haley Fohr, the founder of the progressive sound project, Circuit Des Yeux, will be performing on July 2 in New York at SubCulture, and July 3 in Brooklyn at Trans-Pecos. If you couldn’t already tell, Circuit Des Yeux is far from your average music group, sans fast-paced, danceable techno and dubstep. Their soulful melodies hold a haunting, yet carefully composed element to them, which is accentuated in “Do The Dishes,” from Circuit Des Yeux’s most recent album, In Plain Speech. Their sound, accompanied by the contrasting features of the music video, probes into the precariousness of who we are as everyday people, and subsequently leaves us with an overwhelming sense of mindfulness.
