North Jersey Notes: Fate Of Adam, Robots And Monsters, Common Wealth and More!

You might be scratching your head as to why I would be writing about a band from Tennessee in a North Jersey local music column. Well, I’m about to tell you. Some of you who read this column know I’ve played in a few bands in this music scene. One of the more popular ones was a band called Smoke Star. Well, my old Smoke Star compadre and partner in crime was guitarist Steve Ladd. After the band broke up, Ladd decided to make a move out of Jersey, but stayed away from music for a bunch of years. Well, he’s decided to get back into music in the state he moved to and joined a band called Fate Of Adam. He recently sent me an email saying, “Check out my new band!” So, I did and I was disgustingly impressed with them! These guys reminded me of Texas Hippie Coalition, only they were from Tennessee. The reason why I chose to feature them this week is because Ladd is still my brother, number one, and number two, I’d like to see this band hit the Jersey circuit sometime soon.

Fate Of Adam is made up of five music veterans from the Tennessee music scene (minus Steve Ladd, who’s a vet of the NJ music scene) with over 10 or more years of experience under each of their belts. The band has created a sound they like to call their own combining a metal meets hard rock ballads feel with a live show that is dynamic and a force to be reckoned with. According to their band bio, Fate Of Adam say that they are “here for the fans with humble hearts and open minds,” meaning they enjoy giving the power back to the listeners with great songs and an unforgettably intimate live performance. Their mission is to leave their audiences emotionally drained from a flux of memories, good and bad, with a powerful instrumental delivery and powerful vocal melodies. Fate Of Adam consists of a powerful lead singer, Lynn Garrett, lead guitarist Chris Lowe, new guitarist and my bro, Steve Ladd, bassist Michael Johanson and drummer Bob Crisp.

I logged onto the band’s ReverbNation page, reverbnation.com/fateofadam, to give them a listen when Ladd first told me about them, and I listened to the songs “Succubus,” “Die In My Own Tomorrow” and my favorite song “Bring The Pain.” I can totally hear why Ladd wanted so badly to be part of this band. It had that Smoke Star feeling as well and is right up in Ladd’s wheelhouse when it comes to riff-writing. I think he’s a perfect fit for this project. I really would like to see these guys do some shows up here in Jersey. For more on Fate Of Adam, visit facebook.com/FateofAdam.

NORTH JERSEY NOTES UPDATES:

I just got done checking out the brand new music video from Robots And Monsters for their song “Down To Ash,” which is actually the title track to their CD and my favorite song on the album. I am loving these music videos the local bands have been posting lately. It makes me want to start my own music channel to play music videos. Oh, wait! Didn’t we have one of those in the ’80s called MTV? Anyway, these unsigned bands are starting to put more thought and creativity into their videos again and that’s awesome! Check out Robots And Monsters’ brand new music video for “Down To Ash” at youtu.be/NOwJBLjqDRs. For more on Robots And Monsters, visit robotsandmonsters.net.

Congrats to the boys from Common Wealth for landing a huge gig at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ on July 26 opening for Rise Against and Killswitch Engage. Also performing that night will be LetLive and Johnny B. Morbid. This is a killer show and sure to sell out so get your tickets now. For ticket info and more about Common Wealth, visit facebook.com/commonwealthnj. Common Wealth are currently in the studio finishing up their latest singles “Mend The Pieces” and “Pull Me Through.” Look out for those downloads this month.

And finally, it looks like Saint Caine guitarist Brian Quinn will be adding his guitar wizardry to Le Projet. I wrote about these guys last year because it’s a “project” that features Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose, Candlebox singer Kevin Martin and bassist Adam Kury, and a local brother, Lenny Cerzosie from The Infinite Staircase. I saw some acoustic footage online with this lineup including Brian playing guitar and wow! I can’t wait to hear what they sound like when they’re plugged in! For more on Le Projet, visit them online at leprojetband.com

That’s all for now! If your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140, Little Falls, NJ 07424, or you can email me at tim@theaquarian.com, where you can also let me know where you’re performing next!
