Spike Slawson, lead singer of punk rock cover band Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, has unveiled his new ukulele-based musical endeavor titled Uke-Hunt. The group’s self-titled album contains 10 cover songs traversing multiple genres of music such as Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy The Silence,” The Carpenters’ “Rainy Days And Mondays,” and Barry Manilow’s “Ready To Take A Chance.” Slawson emotionally reinterprets all of these classic tunes into refreshing luau-oriented songs assisted by the rest of his ensemble. You can catch Uke-Hunt at Asbury Lanes on June 7, The Bowery Electric on June 9, and MilkBoy Philly on June 12.
