Dobet Gnahoré is an interesting musician, to say the least; she can play conga, mbira (thumb piano), and guitar, as well as sing in multiple African dialects. Like a spider, the Ivory Coast artist flawlessly creates a web of global music and manages to do so with only a small rhythm section to back her up. If you’d like to catch one of her beautiful performances, she’ll be playing Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater in New York City on Jan. 9.
