The Crookes from Sheffield, England, are a prolific touring rock quartet that released their second album, Soapbox, in April. They recorded their album in a desolate church located in the north Italian Alps, and the huge reverberating sound created on many of the up-tempo tracks contrasts the few slower, softer ballads on Soapbox. Their guitar-centric echoic sound is reminiscent of other English bands The Bravery and The Libertines. After tons of gigs all over Europe, The Crookes made their way across the pond in March for SXSW in Texas, and will perform on July 8 in Philadelphia at The Barbary and July 9 in New York City at The Studio At Webster Hall.
