Dub Thompson, comprised of guitarist Matt Pulos and drummer Evan Laffer, released their debut album, 9 Songs, on June 10. Ironically, it is an eight-track record, presenting a mixture of psychedelic rock, progressive rock, punk and effects-heavy guitar riffs, even including an elevator music sample outro in “Dograces.” With minimal lyrics on most tracks, the music does the brunt of the talking, creating unique unsettling songs that are constantly changing in tempo and dynamics. The 19-year-old duo began a national tour June 29, and will play in Philadelphia at Boot & Saddle on July 9 and Brooklyn at Baby’s All Right on July 11.
