The Williamsburg-based trio Dead Stars have two upcoming New York City spring dates on May 6 at the Cameo Gallery with Slothrust and the Cake Shop in Manhattan on May 17 with The Pharmacy. With inviting leads and heavily distorted guitar tones that draw comparisons to fuzzed-out college rock icons like Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth, the band has self-released several EPs over the years since they formed in 2009. Gaining notoriety in the local scene recently from sharing the stage with the likes of White Fence and Fucked Up, Dead Stars plan to release their first full length, Slumber, this summer.
