The Mast: Newfound Pleasures

Brooklyn’s innovative electronic duo The Mast have taken a completely unique method in songwriting while preparing material for their latest full-length, Pleasure Island. While being occupied with different projects throughout the last year, vocalist Haleh Gafori sent out lyrics, musical arrangements and recorded melodies to beatsmith/percussionist Matt Kilmer, who would collaboratively put together samples and track ideas. Compared to their previous material, Pleasure Island drifts away from their standard instrumentation style and leans in favor of an electronica sound. This week, the group will be celebrating in style at the Mercury Lounge on Feb. 8 for the album’s record release show.
