The easiest way to describe Sarah Dooley’s music would be if you were to take Regina Spektor’s beautifully crafted lyrical style and blend it together with the captivating vocal harmony of Cat Power’s Chan Marshall. Since 2007, the Manhattan-based folk singer-songwriter has gained a substantial following for her uniquely playful approach at storytelling. Her set at Le Poisson Rouge on Feb. 10 will be the official release show for her forthcoming full-length, Stupid Things. Singles such as “Peonies” and “Gym Looks Nice” truly capture Dooley’s quirky persona along with the simplicity of her musical narrative.
