The Thing are not your ordinary jazz trio. Mixing noise rock and garage rock into their sound, the Scandinavian band formed in 1999, releasing their debut, self-titled album in 2000. Last year, they collaborated with singer Neneh Cherry, releasing an LP titled The Cherry Thing. Their latest album, Boot!, dropped earlier this week on The Thing Records, which the band recently established to distribute their own music. The group will be performing at Guggenheim Museum on Nov. 20 as part of a special event honoring artist Christopher Wool’s exhibit at the museum.
