North Jersey Notes: NoraStone, Atom Strange, Young Muse Festival and More!

I recently received an email from a band out of NYC that seems to be making a name for themselves in the Tri-State Area. Their name was NoraStone, and to be honest, when I first heard the name, I expected to see another hot female lead singer. Boy, was I wrong! The singer is actually a dude named Luke Ladlee, and his voice is pretty killer when it comes to rock vocals. I haven’t caught these guys live yet, but through the songs “Lush” and “I’m Just A Ghost” that I got to hear, you can tell these guys are just a bundle of energy. I’m pretty curious as to what NoraStone can do live.

NoraStone, whose members hail from the Newburgh, NY area and the Big Apple, formed in late 2011. In creating their sound, the band chose to combine elements of post-hardcore, alternative, and hard rock with the current sound of NoraStone being the end result. The group debuted with an EP titled Hopeless Lives And Lullabies, which was produced by My Chemical Romance, Brand New and Senses Fail producer, John Naclerio, and released in Fall 2012. Here in 2013, NoraStone’s current lineup consists of singer Luke Ladlee, guitarists Nick Evans and Robert De La Pena, bassist Ryan Bloom and drummer Chris Rosario.

In their short time together, NoraStone have shared the stage with some of the bigger names in the business, opening for acts like Sevendust, Drowning Pool, Lacuna Coil, Coal Chamber and Flyleaf, and they even played the 2013 Mayhem Festival. They recently released their new single, “I’m Just A Ghost,” which is off of the upcoming EP, Sounds Through The Hour Glass. NoraStone will be dropping that EP on October 15. NORTH JERSEY NOTES UPDATES:

My bros from Atom Strange are getting set to releasing the follow-up to their 2010 release, Cosmic Disturbance, with the release of their upcoming CD, The Lost Cosmonauts, which they are looking to drop sometime this fall. For now, they’ve released a single for their song, “Reach Out,” and if this track is any indication of what The Lost Cosmonauts is going to sound like, fans of Atom Strange are in for a real treat! “Reach Out” is a full-blown rock song and this might be the best I’ve ever heard singer Rickeroo Dunn’s voice! Check out the new single “Reach Out” at facebook.com/ATOMSTRANGE.
