Founded in late ‘79, The Selecter became an integral part of the emerging ska scene in the U.S. as they made their way overseas from Coventry, England. The racially diverse, female-fronted band split up in ‘82, only to see several reformations between ‘91 and all the way up to 2010 with varying replacement members under lead vocalist Pauline Black. With their latest release, 2013’s String Theory, The Selecter will be kicking off the second leg of their American tour at The Trocadero in Philly on Sept. 19 and the Gramercy Theater in New York on Sept. 20.
