Although Anathema been around for over 20 years and have visited the U.S. once or twice along the way—two of the band’s members toured as acoustic openers for Blackfield in 2011—this co-headlining run with Alcest marks the first full-scale North American tour for the British underground legends. Having nestled into a bright, progressive sound from their doomed and subsequently melancholic beginnings, Anathema released Weather Systems last year and have a new DVD, Universal, out on Sept. 17. They hit Underground Arts in Philly on Sept. 12 and Gramercy Theatre in NYC on Sept. 14, with Mamiffer opening.
