Doom folk band Arbouretum will be joining forces with the offbeat Brother JT. Bonded through their record label, Thrill Jockey, the two great tastes will taste great together at Brooklyn’s Union Pool on July 28. Brother JT’s first album, The Svelteness Of Boogietude, has a chunky, dirty, hot, groovy, deep and trippy sound that will please any fan of psychedelic or classic rock. Meanwhile, Arbouretum’s music often deals with existentialist crises. Like a love child between Neil Young and The Sword, the band’s thoughtful lyrics are either delivered with authority through hard-hitting/repetitive riffs or through soft country melodies.
