How about the guys from Statik Silence? They landed quite the cushy gig opening for Sevendust at the Maingate Nightclub in Allentown, PA, on July 25. Of course, the guys, formerly known as Life Without Warning, are no strangers to the Sevendust gang since guitarist Clint Lowery did produce their latest self-titled EP, which is due to be released in September. If you can’t make it out to Allentown on July 25, you can catch my bros David Marin and Andrew Rolloff and Statik Silence with Scarlet Carson at the Clash Bar in Clifton, NJ, on July 19. You can check them out now at statiksilence.com.
Speaking of name changes, the guys from Audio Machine were recently forced to change their name due to trademark restrictions. Apparently, there was a company out there with the same name and similar logo, so they filed a cease and desist on this little local band out of Jersey! What a bunch of corporate bullies! Needless to say, Facebook and ReverbNation deleted the band’s pages without notice! These legal issues did not hold the group down and last month, they played their first show under their new name, Audio Empire. They’re the same band with a new name! By the way, they will also be sharing the stage with my band BlackOcean this Saturday afternoon (7/20) at the Jersey Shore Music Festival at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, NJ. Just a friendly reminder to buy your tickets! For more on Audio Empire, log onto reverbnation.com/audioempiremusic.
An old NJN alum recently emailed me to let me know that they’ve recently completed their full-length CD, Across The Passaic. The name of the band is Tashjian and apparently they felt that I was inaccurate in my assessment of their band. So, I gave a few songs like “Clinton Hill,” “East Orange Vs. Irvington” and “Handouts” off of the new CD a listen to see if my mind changed about this band, and I have to say that it really didn’t. The music is still very interesting and very conservative, but I don’t hate it. I actually enjoyed what I heard. It’s just not something that I would listen to on a regular basis. It’s extremely creative and clever, however! Check out Tashjian for yourself at tashjian.bandcamp.com.
Good news for my bros John Kosco and John Eville from Saint Caine! Not only has Saint Caine been added to select dates for the Godsmack tour including a stop at the House Of Blues in Atlantic City on Aug. 8, but they’ve also managed to squeeze in an opening slot with Great White at Bergen PAC in Englewood on Aug. 1. This would be kind of a nice homecoming for Kosco, who is actually from that neck of the woods. Great news on the Godsmack gigs though, boys! Great to see locals on a big tour like that! Check Saint Caine out at facebook.com/saintcaine.
And finally, one of my favorite local metal bands ever is reuniting for a couple of shows this year! I’m talking about my boy Eddie Night and the boys from Ten Feet From Murder. Eddie’s been spending his days with Tim McMurtrie in Murder League All-Stars as of late, but felt it was time to put the band back together! They’ll be making their defiant return next Friday night (7/26) at The Blue Room in Secaucus with our bros Apathy, MARTYRD, Castrofate and The Falling Of Rose. Then on Nov. 29, Ten Feet From Murder will be sharing the stage with E-Town Concrete, 40 Below Summer, Bane and Nora at the newly re-opened Starland Ballroom in Slayerville, NJ. That’s all for now! If your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140, Little Falls, NJ 07424, or you can email me at tim@theaquarian.com, where you can also let me know where you’re performing next!
Just remember….We’re all in the same boat, so every little bit of exposure counts!
