Above all, The Technicolors strive to be loud. Their ambitious 2012 debut, Listener Deluxe, is an album bursting with rousing and expansive rock songs—which is no surprise considering that the Phoenix band cites Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty among their biggest influences. Their sound is bombastic but also artfully arranged, a method that revels in both the dramatic thrills and the deeper personal connections that their listeners can forge with it. The Technicolors will play the Mercury Lounge on June 16 with The Fictionist.
