If you’re planning on hitting up Wellmont Theatre in Montclair April 19 to catch Opeth—and hell, even if you’re not but are up for changing your plans—make sure you get there in time to catch Katatonia in the support slot. The Swedish masters of melancholy are touring in support of last year’s Dead End Kings release, which reaffirms their love of all things dark, melodic and heavy. Katatonia’s sound has come a long way, and with the latest album, they pay homage to the weight of the past and look with a progressive eye toward the future. The tour swings back through the area April 27 to hit Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA, and stops at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg on April 29.
