To record their third album, Canadian band Born Ruffians began living and recording music together just as they did for their debut album. But this time, instead of living in a Toronto apartment, the foursome worked out of an isolated farmhouse in rural Ontario. The resulting collection of songs, Birthmarks, is business as usual—ecstatic indie rock anthems, at points contemplative but always underscored with a soaring sense of immensity. Their record release party is scheduled for April 16 at Bowery Ballroom, and they’ll also perform at Maxwell’s on April 18 and Johnny Brenda’s on April 20.
