The Bowery Ballroom will be the stage for The Coup when they visit New York City on Dec. 6. The Coup are categorized as a political hip-hop group, and tries to spread its communist message through its upbeat music. Their most recent album, Sorry To Bother You, released at the end of October, contains satirical and lighthearted pieces such as “The Magic Clap,” which discusses the serious matter of being interrogated by the FBI in a cheery manner. Other noteworthy singles from the record include “We Got The Guillotine,” which serves as a warning to the upper class of society, and “Wavip,” which also criticizes the control of the so-called “one percent.” In addition to the NYC show, The Coup will be at Philly’s Underground Arts on Dec. 7.
