The originals of PA’s The ColourSound lean towards Britpop but it’s more than just the extraordinary vocalist Doug Batt (a high school English teacher by day) sounding like Matthew Bellamy of Muse. Lead Guitarist Sean Hieter will have his full psychedelic circus of effects at his foot and there’s no telling what covers they will do at this public party to celebrate fashion designer Robert Graham. Songs by Death Cab For Cutie, Britney Spears, Leonard Cohen, Weezer, the Bee Gees, Keane, Animal Kingdom, Kings Of Leon, Postal Service and even the great Bowie may be played! Still, the audience is half the fun, as the fashion world comes out when these boys play the Big Apple and there’s nothing better than slightly drunk models ready and willing to dance with whoever asks them, including me. I’ll be wearing my Robert Graham original New York Yankees shirt that’s so cool I get stopped on street corners. The show will be at Arlene’s Grocery on July 20.
