The Mekons: Polar Opposites

One of the earliest British punk rock bands is playing two New York shows this fall. The Mekons promise a hardcore, electrifying night at The Bell House on Oct. 7 and a more relaxed, acoustic show at City Winery on Oct. 8. The iconic band will be playing songs from their newly-released album, Ancient & Modern, as well as their older tunes. The Mekons’ earlier work is primarily punk, whereas their newest album also incorporates the sounds of folk and alt-country. Doors are at 8 p.m. on Oct. 7, 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 8. Tickets are $18 and $22-28 respectively.
