YOB: Preparing The Ground

Touring ahead of the Aug. 16 release date of their new album, Atma, Eugene, Oregon’s YOB are swinging through NYC for the first time in I don’t even know how many years this week, making a stop at Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan on Tuesday, July 12, with Floridian duo Dark Castle opening. Both bands specialize in obliteratingly heavy doom metal, and as the anticipation mounts for YOB’s record (their second on Profound Lore), Dark Castle have already released the outstanding and experimental Surrender To All Life Beyond Form. It’s bound to be one of the year’s heaviest, loudest shows, and if you’ve ever wondered what life would be like if music made your chest cavity rumble, the ol’ red fish is the place to be.
