Title Tracks is the solo project of John Davis who is a former member of Q And Not U. With his album, In Blank, Davis is bringing power-pop with a pinch of punk to the masses. The album is full of upbeat, and loud instrumentals that just brings out a good mood in the listener. In Blank also features a cover of Flamin’ Groovies’ “I Can’t Hide.” Title Tracks did the song justice and a little bit more.
Without losing the feel-good feel of the release, “Forget The Ghost” does mellow out the overall tone of the album. “All Tricks” brought two different emotions over me at first listen. On one hand, the lyrics hint at a sad tone but the instrumentals go in the completely opposite direction and made me want to dance. “No Air” incorporates a slight ska feel mixed with the already evident power-popness of the previous tracks. This also happens to be the track that really caught my attention and had me really bopping my head. A somewhat campy song, “It’s Wrong” seems to shed pity on the idea of right and wrong. The final song “Winners Cry” is another song that really stood out amongst the others in vocal style, instrumentals and the implied message that even winners cry. The album overall is catchy, and brings the good vibes.
