Futurebirds: Casual Bird Watching

Futurebirds, those six fellows from Athens, Georgia, are bringing their friendly, familiar sound to Mercury Lounge on Feb. 25 and to Union Pool on Feb. 26. The boys will give a taste of their new EP and serve up parts of their original LP, Hampton’s Lullaby. Describing themselves as a lovechild of Flying Burrito Brothers and The Band, the group has sought a middle ground between new sounds and more established rhythms to formulate something “worth playing on the porch-swing over an ice-cold beer.” The most difficult part of listening to this laid back music will be to keep from joining in and singing along.
