Kate Jacobs is back on the beat with her newest album, Home Game, featuring songs about—what else? Home. She’s been experimenting since 1981 with different sounds that compliment her voice and unique delivery, with enunciation ripped straight from third period English and a tone as sweet and lilting as a lullaby. Contemplating the view outside her window and helped by gentle piano and a relaxed acoustic guitar, Jacobs sounds almost like a female James Taylor, until the volume gets turned up with some backup singing and a bit of drums to kick into action. Home Game is available now.
