PANZIE*—New York City, NY
One band that I keep hearing about is Panzie* out of NYC. Until recently, I never got a chance to hear their music. I needed to hear what the buzz was about, so I logged onto myspace.com/panzierocknroll to give them a listen. I love their grit and dirtiness coming from this band. Singer Johnny Hawaiian had vocals with attitude that were reminiscent of Rob Zombie meets The Cult meets Circus of Power, all while the music punches you right in the gullet! There is nothing pansy about Panzie*! They rock, and they rock hard! My favorite tracks includ the anthemic “Dance (Mofo),” “Alphabet Soup,” “Rock ‘N’ Roll Hammer,” and “Angry Man.” I needed to see this band live!
Panzie* is a sleek, heavy rock band that burst out of the gutters on NYC in the fall of 2009. Hawaiian leads this crew of misfits, who seem to becoming be causing quite a stir everywhere they go. Hawiian’s spoken word mixed with the brutal riffs from guitarists Jonnie Rockit and DC Gonzalez, and the danceable rhythm section of bassist Warren Rock and drummer Peter Eiselman ensure that Panzie* does not sound like anyone else on the scene right now.
They have made quite an impression with their onstage performances too. Recently, during one of their blistering live sets, they had three different drummers, play a song they had not rehearsed without missing a beat! They even had Bio-Hazard’s Evan Seinfeld jump up onstage to share the mic. This band doesn’t seem to be slowing down for anyone. If you want to hear what I’m talking about, or want to see Panzie* live, log onto myspace.com/panzierocknroll. Trust me, this rock is not for pussies!
NORTH JERSEY NOTES UPDATES:
Dave Incognito and his Incognito Theory are about ready to put the band on stage. They were recently added to the highly anticipated 40 Below Summer reunion show at The Starland Ballroom this Saturday night, Sept. 25, with God Forbid and With Daggers Drawn. Can’t make that show? Don’t worry! You can catch Incognito Theory at Bar A in Lake Como, NJ on Oct. 14. If you want to give Incognito Theory a listen, log onto myspace.com/incognitotheory, where you can hear new songs “Nine Ways Sideways” and “This Present.”
I thought that this was pretty cool! Dan Lorenzo of Hades/Non-Fiction was recently on Headbangers Ball on MTV2 to intro an Alice In Chains video with the show’s host. Dan and his Hades/Non-Fiction cohort, Alan Tecchio can also be found in Steve Seabury’s heavy metal cookbook, Mosh Potatoes. For more info on this unique cookbook from the bassist of Moth Eater, log onto moshpotatoescookbook.com.
And finally, there’s supposed to be a brand new Ape Fight CD released this month! I haven’t heard any music yet, but supposedly it’s true! As proof, the band recently lent their song “Smell the Cushion” to Johnny Knoxville for a behind the scenes video that the “Jackass” guys did for vanityfair.com. If you’d like to see the video, you’ll have to go there. Or you can just sit tight as we fight the fight, and wait for the new Ape Fight CD to drop! Keep an eye out on apefight.com.
That’s all for now! If your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140 Little Falls, NJ 07424, or you can email me at chigger273@aol.com, where you can also let me know where you’re performing next. No cover bands, please! Also, if you haven’t checked out my podcast yet, do it now at northjerseynotes.mypodcast.com!
Just remember….We is all in the same boat, so every little bit of exposure counts!
