Named for the historic event where a group of radicals in China murdered thousands of foreigners to rid their country of outside influence, The Boxer Rebellion, isn’t quite as daunting. Rather, this indie rock group’s sound is consistently mellow with a lulling lead singer and reassuring instrumentation. Even they resisted outside influence however, when in early 2010 they became the first unsigned band to enter the US Billboard 100. The forlorn foursome is coming to the Bowery Ballroom on Sept. 23 and The Bell House on Sept. 25. Tickets start at $15. 8 p.m.
