For the first time in its three-year history, the International Body Music Festival comes to NYC on Aug. 12 at the free Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors area in the name of cross-cultural rhythmic arts. I assure you, ‘body music’ is not as gross as it sounds; performers use their bodies as percussive and tonal instruments, backed by rhythmic dancing and a capella singing, to literally embody ageless musical customs from around the world. Set to perform are The Americas, Slammin’ All-Body Band, Barbatuques, and Inuit Throatsingers Celina Kalluk and Lucie Idlout with Hambone artist Derique McGee. Damrosch Park Bandshell, 7:30 p.m.
