Haitian culture will be celebrated in the Bruce Paltrow Field on 134th St. and Amsterdam with Konbit Pou Ayiti at Harlem Stage. Through pan–Caribbean music, spoken word, and dance performances—the Haitian culture will come alive over the span of five hours. Performers such as singers Emeline Michel and Mika Benjamin will put their voices to good use while the Ase Dance Collective will demonstrate the beauty of Haiti’s native and beautiful dances. The event will also feature the building of a “Tower Of Power” for which attendees are encouraged to bring pictures of loved ones as well as add handmade items. The event takes place on July 17.
