Canadian troop The Acorn creates a concoction of folkloric musings and indie-inspired jam sessions on their latest album No Ghost. The Ottawa-based group conceived the album’s sound that splits natural acoustic elements and fuller, more driving tracks with ease. Their musical inspirations create a kaleidoscopic experience, gradually morphing from plucky guitars, swooning harmonies and momentum-filled drum syncopation, to heavier tracks that combine violin, backwards electric guitar and humming feedback. The Acorn play Maxwell’s July 13, Mercury Lounge July 14, and Littlefield (Brooklyn) July 15. $10.
