The Pixies are coming back to New York. The alternative rock legends, credited with influencing Nirvana and numerous other grunge acts from the ‘90s and onward, have come a long way from writing songs on the subway. Having released five albums between 1987 and 1991 The Pixies broke up in ’93 only to reform 11 years later to find that their legacy had grown considerably after their split. Now with the release of a box set called The Pixies: Minotaur, Deluxe And Limited Editions including all of their albums, a previously unreleased DVD and a massive collection of artwork, The Pixies have even hinted at the possibility of a new album in 2010. They will be in NYC for three dates at the Hammerstein Ballroom from Nov. 23 – 25. $48 – $61. newyorkcitytheatre.com.
