Though there might be some argument over what p-funk really stands for, it is undeniable that the creators of this term, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, will bring the funk. This 27-piece group that named themselves after a cigarette brand found fame in the ‘70s and continued their success into the early ‘80s. George Clinton and 15 other members were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1997, and Clinton was recruited by Red Hot Chili Peppers to produce their record Freaky Styley. Clinton, himself, has brightly colored hair and an even more colorful stage presence. If you want to see an exciting, high-energy funk show then make your way out to Trenton, New Jersey’s Patriots Theater at the War Memorial on Nov. 20. Ticket prices range from $35-$75. georgeclinton.com.
