A direct descendent of Buffalo Bill Cody, Los Angeles songwriter Phil Cody follows in the free, rambling spirit of his ancestor. He’s been a self-imposed exile from the music business since the beginning of the decade, but now, he’s working on a new record, restarting his career with a bunch of shows in the area, including one on Aug. 10 at Rockwood Music Hall. With performances alongside legends like Bonnie Raitt and Warren Zevon, Cody’s narrative songwriting have won him comparisons to folk-rock troubadors like Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.
