The members of Man Man are known for their live performances, probably because they deck themselves out in war paint and use noisemakers and pots and pans. Their music has been called ragtime, gypsy jazz, and in some cases just plain weird. This Philly-based experimental band gained quite a following in 2007 when they opened for Modest Mouse and after three of their songs were featured on an episode of Weeds. You can catch the insanity at a free show provided by City Parks Foundation’s free summer performing arts festivals at the East River Park in Manhattan on July 16 at 7 p.m. cityparksfoundation.org.
