CLIFTON, NJ—Geoff and the crew at Jinx Proof Tattoo did something wonderful at the Clash Bar in Clifton last month. They held an auction for the benefit of Matthew Guanno, a child who has cancer. And on the block were some 40 skate decks ornately designed from many of the area’s brightest talent behind the gun. To name a few: Pedro from Queen of Arts, Jae Conner from Boonton’s Electric Lotus, Jen and the whole crew from Monarch, Christian from Hawthorne’s Silk City, Tommy2Tone and CJ from Bayside Ink down the shore, and of course, Geoff, Ox and the crew at Jinx Proof in Montclair. They raised almost $7,000 that night from what I witnessed to be a tremendous show of support from the local tattoo scene. I was amazed at the turnout, especially since the Tattoo Convention was occurring that weekend as well. Even so, the place was packed.
From what I understand, there’s a few decks left still available. If you’re interested you can check the MySpace page at myspace.com/40decksartshow or you can call him at the shop at 973-783-9633. And for information or donations, go to matthewsbuddies.com
You can also check Matthew’s progress at carepages.com (matthew guanno). Any help would be appreciated.
